“It’s Not Easy Being Yellow” by Charlie Streeting

A word from the author :

“My name is actually Charlotte, but everyone calls me Charlie.  I wrote and illustrated It's Not Easy Being Yellow to help raise awareness of liver disease in kids.  I have a very rare liver illness called Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis, or PFIC for short.  This condition makes my skin turn yellow, causes severe itching, and makes it hard for my body to absorb vitamins and nutrients.

I started writing this book when I was in hospital at age 12, and I worked on the illustrations when I had sever liver episodes and couldn't go to school for long periods of time.  Even though living with PFIC can be really tough, it has helped me to appreciate the important things in life and shown me how much I can accomplish, even during difficult times.

In this book, I've tried to share what living with PFIC is like in a light hearted and fun way.  I hope my book helps people understand how challenging liver conditions are.
